I’m gonna keep you nice and warm with week’s Throwback Thursday … before you scroll down, any ideas of what it is yet? And as I have been doing all week, I’m giving away a stash of holiday goodies worth $200 along with one of my official Walk of Shame ugly sweaters, in the KPOI Hashstash and our Winter Wonderstash.
Now for that Throwback … today’s Throwback Thursday is for those born in the last decade, since I’ve had a few listeners say I don’t cover the decades equally. So this is for the millenium …
This week we’re remembering one of the hottest holiday gifts of 2008, literally. This week’s Throwback is the Snuggie. It’s a blanket with sleeves, meant to be worn backward. It answered the age old question… how can I be warm AND look like I’m in a cult. The Snuggie happily did both, coming in a wide range of colors and sizes. It’s been copied by brands all over the world. There’s a variation of it in Japan called the Kanguru which has a pocket in the middle. Not sure why you would need a pocket. I mean, you’re in a Snuggie, where are you going? Hopefully nowhere because you look ridiculous.
When talking about getting good news and bad news, this one takes the cake. A man in China had his hand severed off at work. Doctors told him the good news is… we can re-attach your hand. The bad news is we can’t do it right now. It was because his arm was also flattened so his arm needed to heal before reattaching his hand. So in order to keep his hand alive, the doctors grafted the hand to his ankle. I’m serious. Check out the pic on our facebook page: facebook.com/kpoifm - a hand connected to your ankle… and you thought bunyuns were bad. Read the story [here] if you missed it.
