MEET FERNANDO THE LOVE MACHINE!
Trombone player. Father. Husband, former closet “trekkie,” tropical fish collector, and referred to by Conan O’Brien as the “guy that wants to sleep with Robert Pattinson (Conan O’Brien television show/February 14, 2012).” Fernando Pacheco is a musician, a writer, a comedian, and well-known radio personality.
Born and raised on Oahu, the first thing he wanted to be was a cow. He has not achieved this goal. Other less known things about this very public figure, is, according to Pacheco, “In junior high, I was in the Star Trek Club of Hawaii. I’ve been trying to shed those memories ever since. Thankfully, no pics were taken during that period of my life.” Lucky for the rest of us, Pacheco changed interests to the music industry, where he has become a renowned name not only in radio, but as a talented songwriter, producer, and musician. While attending the Universityof Hawaiiat Manoa, he began teaching himself to play the trombone. After graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication, he began touring with ska and reggae bands which he still does to this day. Between tours, Fernando has gained experience in radio and live theater. The gratitude he expresses, from the experiences gained from touring, are clear, sort of. “I’m a Warped Tour veteran and I’ve partied on the road with such bands as Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Reel Big Fish and your mom.”
Although singing with PIMPBOT is his first love, most know Fernando from his “Love Machine” persona on the radio. 105.9 KPOI is his current radio home as the host of the morning show, “The Walk of Shame.” So evident is his passion for music, that many have been supportive throughout his career. “Fernando Pacheco has well-deserved credibility as a musician, recording artist, producer and radio personality (John Berger, Honolulu Pulse / Jan 13, 2012).”
With an average Klout score of 66, he is a pundit when it comes to social media. With a powerful online presence, he doesn't just share news - he creates it. Due to his online influence he was hired as a full-time blogger for being808.com - HMSA's health and wellness blog, in March of 2012.
When Pacheco is not working, he loves to spend time with his daughter, 2-year old Lola, and wife, Make-up Artist, Sarah (Sarah La Glam). “In life, I’m most proud of my daughter. She picks up everything so quickly. Every new thing she does astounds me,” says Pacheco.
Some people follow trends, others create them. Pacheco is one of them, by living by the words of a blue-eyed legend. “I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day (Frank Sinatra).”
